The app and your chosen server
VPN Proto is a client for VPN servers that you configure. It does not provide a public VPN server network or require a VPN Proto account. Your VPN traffic is handled by the server you choose, under that operator’s privacy practices.
The app does not include advertising or analytics SDKs that collect your browsing history. This does not make a claim about what your server operator, DNS provider, network or destination websites may observe.
Information saved on your device
The app stores profile names, protocol settings, configuration text, server addresses, favorites, the last-used profile, connection history timestamps and app preferences in private app storage. Configuration text may include private keys, certificates, account identifiers or other secrets supplied in the original profile.
Saved passwords use Flutter Secure Storage backed by Android Keystore. This protection applies to saved password fields; it should not be interpreted as a claim that every field inside an imported configuration is separately encrypted by the app.
Session duration and available traffic counters are displayed in the interface. Diagnostic messages from the app or native VPN components may be available in device logs. Review diagnostic exports for server details before sharing them.
Connection checks
To check internet reachability, VPN Proto requests connectivity-check endpoints operated by Google and Microsoft. Those endpoints receive the public IP address and normal network request metadata. The app repeats checks while a connection is active. These checks do not constitute a complete traffic, DNS or IPv6 leak audit.
Android permissions
The app asks Android for permission to create VPN connections. Android may show a persistent VPN or foreground-service notification. File import uses the system file picker to read the configuration you select. Optional notification permission supports connection alerts. Turning optional alerts off does not remove Android’s required service notification.
This website
The website serves static pages, images and fonts from VPN Proto’s hosting. It does not set analytics or advertising cookies or load third-party tracking scripts. Hosting processes connection information, including IP addresses, requested URLs and ordinary HTTP headers, to deliver pages. The web server may retain access and error logs for operation and troubleshooting.
Links to external documentation or other websites take you to services with their own privacy policies. If you email support, your message and the contact details you supply are handled to respond to your request.
Your choices
Delete a profile from Profiles to remove its saved configuration and associated password from the app. Keep original configuration files, clipboard contents and device backups secure; deleting a saved profile does not delete copies held elsewhere. Uninstalling the app removes its local app data according to Android’s behavior.
